Hyperpigmentation

Hyperpigmentation can be caused by a number of different factors such as hormones (e.g.pregnancy), UV damage (freckles, dark patches), genetics, age (less effective melanin diffusion, age spots) or certain medication. The majority of hyperpigmentation is an excess or uneven distribution in melanin, the pigment in the skin.

At the London Cosmetic Clinic we offer a range of treatments to help improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation and we will decide the most suitable treatment based on the severity of the hyperpigmentation, your individual skin and your desired results. These available treatments include;

Topical medication cream– usually Retin-A which deeply exfoliates the skin with the use of a retinoid derived from Vitamin A or Hydroquinone, a safe and controlled bleaching agent. These can be used alone or together depending on your individual needs. We also offer phytic acid or glycolic acid superficial skin peels. We also offer the Obagi Nu-Derm System in some cases. Chemical Peels- We offer a range of chemical peels from superficial to medium in depth. These remove the upper layers of skin to reveal fresher, more even skin underneath. This also encourages the skin to produce more collagen and new cells.
